Narcissistic Abuse

Specialized Clinical Care – Frisco, TX

Narcissistic abuse is often invisible from the outside. There are no bruises, no police reports, no clear moment you can point to and say “that was the day everything changed.” What there is, instead, is a slow, confusing erosion — the love that felt like magic at first, the steady chipping away at your reality afterward, the way you started to feel both indispensable and never quite enough. Maybe you have spent years wondering if you were the problem. Maybe you have only recently learned that what you went through has a name. We want you to know this: you are not crazy. You are not too sensitive. You are not the reason this happened. You are someone who has been treated in ways no one was meant to endure — and you are bravely turning toward your own healing.

In sessions, we walk alongside you as you make sense of what happened, name the patterns that kept you off balance, and slowly rebuild trust in yourself. Together we work with the doubt and self-blame that gaslighting leaves behind, the loneliness of relationships where others did not see what you saw, and the hard-won task of learning to trust your own perception again. Common areas we work with include:

  • partners, parents, siblings, or other family members whose behavior fits these patterns
  • friends, bosses, faith leaders, or community figures who used the same dynamics
  • love bombing, devaluation, and the painful cycle in between
  • gaslighting, blame-shifting, and chronic invalidation
  • coercive control, isolation, and intermittent reinforcement
  • smear campaigns, triangulation, and the experience of not being believed
  • children of narcissistic parents, including adult children still navigating the relationship
  • decisions around contact: no-contact, low-contact, gray rock, and the grief that comes with each
  • rebuilding self-trust, identity, and the parts of yourself that were not safe to show
  • nervous system recovery, hypervigilance, and the long after-effects of being on guard for so long

You do not have to have all the right words for what happened, and you do not need anyone else to validate it first. We would be happy to walk through this with you. Step by step, you and your counselor will move toward clarity, steadiness, and a way of being in your own life that finally feels like yours again.
