Trauma

Specialized Clinical Care – Frisco, TX

Trauma can take many shapes. Some people carry a single moment that shifted everything — an accident, an assault, a loss, a medical event. Others carry the slower weight of growing up in a home where they did not feel safe, loved, or seen for who they were. Sometimes trauma is loud and obvious. Sometimes it shows up quietly, years later, in the form of anxiety, anger, numbness, relationship struggles, or a sense that something is “off” without a clear reason why. We want you to know this: the way you have responded is not a flaw. Your mind and body have been doing exactly what they were built to do — protecting you. You are not broken. You are bravely turning toward the parts of your story that have been waiting to be heard.

In sessions, we walk alongside you at a pace your nervous system can trust. Healing from trauma is not about reliving the worst moments — it is about helping your body and mind learn, gently and gradually, that the danger is over. Together we build resources, name what happened, work with the patterns trauma has left behind, and help you reclaim a sense of safety, choice, and connection. Common areas we work with include:

  • single-event trauma (accidents, assault, medical events, sudden loss)
  • childhood trauma and complex / relational trauma
  • PTSD symptoms (flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, numbing)
  • religious or spiritual trauma
  • trauma in close relationships
  • birth trauma and pregnancy loss
  • racial, cultural, or identity-based trauma
  • secondary or vicarious trauma (caregivers, first responders, clinicians)

There is no timeline you have to keep, and no detail you have to share before you are ready. We would be happy to walk through it with you. Step by step, you and your counselor will move toward a life where your story is something you carry, rather than something that carries you.
