Abuse is not always loud, and it is not always visible. It can show up as a hand raised in anger, words that erode who you know yourself to be, control disguised as care, unwanted touch, isolation from the people who love you, or a hundred smaller moments that leave you wondering whether what is happening even has a name. We want you to know this: if something inside you has been quietly saying “this is not right” — whether it began last week or decades ago — that knowing is worth listening to. What happened to you is not your fault. The ways you have coped, stayed, doubted yourself, or kept going are not weaknesses. They are the marks of someone who has had to be remarkably strong in circumstances that should never have been theirs to carry.
In sessions, we walk alongside you at a pace that honors your story and your sense of safety. There is no need to bring every detail right away, and there is no version of “ready” you have to arrive at first. Together we work to make sense of what happened, untangle the patterns abuse left behind, rebuild trust in yourself, and reclaim the parts of you that the relationship asked you to set aside. Common areas we work with include:
- physical abuse
- emotional and verbal abuse
- sexual abuse and assault (recent or historical)
- coercive control and manipulation
- financial abuse
- spiritual or religious abuse
- childhood abuse and its long-term effects
- abuse within a current or past relationship, family, workplace, or community
- the shame, self-blame, anxiety, and grief that can follow abuse
You are not alone, and you do not have to figure out what to do next on your own. We would be happy to walk through this with you. Step by step, you and your counselor will move toward safety, clarity, and a renewed sense of your own worth.
